Rodman Ride for Kids 2010 - Alinda is riding 25 miles

Hi Everyone,

On September 25th, I’ll be riding my fifth year, 25 miles in the Rodman Ride for Kids to support the Family Nurturing Center of Massachusetts (FNC). FNC is a Boston-based non-profit with a 16 year history of providing comprehensive supports to strengthen families and prevent child abuse and neglect.

The reason I’m riding is because I believe that all of Boston’s children deserve to grow up in nurturing, supportive families and communities. FNC provides family support programs to improve the parent and child relationship at all ages and stages of growth, build nurturing skills and knowledge of healthy child development, and connect families to each other, to their community, and to resources.

The Family Nurturing Center is best known for its evidence-based Nurturing Parenting Programs: 12-15 week programs for parents and children to attend together. FNC has spread the Nurturing Philosophy through trainings to other organizations in and around Boston and across the state, but it also offers specialized curricula, including NPs for birth & foster families, pre-natal families, and Cape Verdean families. FNC piloted Boston’s first Nurturing Fathers’ Program and continues to provide multiple parenting programs each year for fathers, even those who are incarcerated.

Another way FNC serves families is through its Neighborhood Circles of Caring in Dorchester, Allston-Brighton, and Roslindale. Working with many community partners, FNC provides Welcome Baby home visits to families with newborns, Parent-Child Playgroups (a model replicated by Boston Public School’s Countdown to Kindergarten), the Parent-Child Home Program, Nurturing Programs, Nurturing Circles Parent Support Groups, and other activities neighborhood residents desire for themselves and their children. For families that are isolated or have few other resources, FNC is often the gateway to many other valuable supports and connections. Last year, hundreds of companies and thousands of individuals donated over $7 million to the Ride for Kids on behalf of 25 agencies serving Massachusetts children. My Little cuz is the cutest! Model/Diva Extraordinaire.....

She has been modeling since she was a baby. The day after I bought my first SLR, I did my first Photo Shoot for her. She was three. Now she is six, and my sweetie pie told me she loved her photo shoot. She even carried away her own stool from our on location shoot.

High School Senior Photography - She Shines Bright

Here is a High School student who has it all.

I met This young lady last night, yet I felt like I have known her since she was a small child. I have heard countless stories of her intelligence, talents and beauty. My best friend, Allicia is her amazing stepmom who has shared in adding to her inner light for years..... Well look at her shine - an awesome teen with the world at her fingertips.

I am so excited to have been a part of her Senior experience in front of the camera.

Ok, so I attended Doug's workshop and I purchased a new addition to my photography family.

The TORCH LED.

It is a light designed by Doug Gordon just for photographers....

I took this shot in front of the backdrop with no flash.

Love it....

Isn't my assistant cute, and competent. She does a great job assisting me on shoots and editing.

This is my latest.....

A beautiful girl with her RAG DOLL.... I love it.

I had a life size doll like this when I was her age.

I don't know where that doll is now,

but I thought I would bring the Rag Doll back to my portrait photography for kids this summer.

My First Studio - Self Portrait

I have been wearing my hair braided for a couple of months now. I get them redone about every two weeks to a month, depending on the style.

Well, I just took them out and decided to take some self portraits.

This was fun... I might get addicted to doing this. LOL

The image with the mom was my photographer's favorite of the day.

She allowed me to be creative and create a sun flare effect,

by placing a strobe light at about 10:00 in position to where she was sitting.

I absolutely love the results.
